BMW Motorrad India will be entering domestic market with its whole range; the much talked about BMW G310R will grace sportsbike space during festive season German automaker BMW’s motorcycle manufacturer wing BMW Motorrad is all set to enter the Indian market with the G310R in a few days. And later on the motorcycle manufacturer plans to introduce its entire range in the country. The two wheeler market in India is booming fast and it has even surpassed the car market in the country. While the commuter motorcycle still rules the space, the premium motorcycles are also becoming quite popular. BMW is aiming to grab a fare share in that space only. And in an attempt to do that, the German company plans to launch its entire range from G310R to K1600GTL. Also read: Production-Ready BMW G310R Spied Undisguised in India The G310R is being built locally in the country in association with the TVS Motor, in the latter’s plant in Hosur. While the design and development has been done by BMW Motorrad, the TVS Motors manufacture the bike as part of their joint venture. Once launched, the BMW G310R will be the most affordable bike in the country from the company, as it will come with a sub 2 lakh price tag. The G310R takes power from a 313 cc single cylinder four stroke engine mated to a six speed transmission. The engine churns out 34 bhp of peak power at 9,500 rpm and 28 Nm of peak torque at 7,500 rpm. Interestingly, TVS Motor has taken inspiration from the BMW G310R to make its own Akula 310 concept based Apache RTR 300, which is presently being tested. Importing from Thailand will help the BMW Motorrad to keep the pricing of its models lower compared as it will reduce the freight charge and excise duty as well. The other models, which will enter the Indian market include S1000R, S1000RR, S1000XR, F700GS, F800GS, F800R, R1200GS and R1200GS Adventure. Also the company will bring BMW R Nine T and BMW K1600GTL.
