Maruti Suzuki Ignis AMT will be available in both petrol and diesel variants to have an edge over main rival Mahindra KUV100
Maruti Suzuki Ignis micro SUV is reported to come with an AMT gearbox. Both the petrol and diesel variants will get the AMT gearbox. Maruti Suzuki calls its AMT as AGS or Auto Gear Shift. Early reports suggested the car will get a CVT instead of AMT. Now it seems Maruti Suzuki will introduce a 5 speed AGS gearbox to this car. AGS is the Maruti Suzuki developed AMT technology.
Incidentally, we have already seen the usage of AGS technology in several Maruti Suzuki cars. This technology saves the driver from the hassle of clutch pressing and gear shifting. The AGS technology is also known for delivering manual transmission like fuel economy. The Ignis getting AGS will surely enhance the appeal of this car.

The micro SUV is expected to launch during the festive season later this year. It was first showcased at 2016 New Delhi Auto Expo earlier this year in February. Maruti Suzuki Ignis petrol variant will get power from a 1.2 litre K-Series engine. While the diesel variant will draw power from a 1.3 litre DDiS turbodiesel unit. Both the engines will be mated to 5 speed AGS transmission.
The Indo Japanese auto manufacturer believes introducing an AGS will give the car edge over its closest rival Mahindra KUV100. Expect the Ignis to come priced between Rs. 4.8 lakhs to Rs. 7 lakhs. The car will be sold exclusively through the company’s premium dealership NEXA alongside Baleno and S-Cross.

Maruti Suzuki Ignis comes with a compact yet stylish appearance. It features wide front grille with integrated headlamp clusters. The headlamp clusters come with LED daytime running lights. The round fog lamps are housed at the chrome finished enclosures. The side profile gets sleek and sharp character lines.

The rear fascia reminds the old Suzuki models. The interior also looks practical and attractive. It gets multifunction steering wheel, large dial at instrument cluster and a touchscreen infotainment system.
