Yamaha Aerox 155 shares R15’s engine; could become the most powerful scooter in India
Yamaha could show some interesting products at the upcoming 2018 Delhi Auto Expo and one of them could be the Aerox 155 premium scooter. An Aerox 155 premium scooter has been spotted at one of Yamaha’s service workshops without any camouflage. Considering the fact that Yamaha wants to grab a good chunk of the highly in demand scooter market of the country, this seems viable option.
Yamaha Aerox 155 comes with a stylish and upmarket design that grabs attention at the very first glimpse. In several South East Asian markets, this scooter is available already and it gets two different variants that are R-Version and S-Version. The particular model spotted in India is the S-Version and it wears a blue paint scheme.

While Yamaha is tight lipped about the launch of the scooter here, the brand could reportedly start selling it officially from 25th February 2018. However, it is not sure if the scooter will be sold here as Aerox 155 or as NVX 155 like Malaysian market. No matter what, this will surely add zing to the Yamaha India lineup.
The scooter sports a design that is inspired by the Yamaha MT motorcycle range. It gets a sporty and aggressive stance combined with sculpted layout. It features LED lighting package at front and rear, a premium 5.8-inch LCD display at instrument cluster, 4.6-litre capacity fuel tank, mobile charging port and 25-litre capacity underseat storage compartment. Apart from that, it also gets smart key system, start/stop button.

Speaking about its power source, Yamaha Aerox 155 gets energy from a 155.1 cc single-cylinder, fuel-injected, SOHC VVA engine coupled with an automatic gearbox. This engine is the same unit that works in the soon to be launched new Yamaha R15. The scooter churns out 14.95 PS of peak power at 8,000 rpm and 13.8 Nm of peak torque at 6,250 rpm. With this specification, Yamaha Aerox 155 is going to be the most powerful scooter in the Indian market.
It runs on 14-inch alloy wheels similar to the Aprilia SR 150. For braking duty, the Yamaha Aerox 155 gets a front disc brake and a rear drum unit. Also, there will be ABS on offer enhancing safety of the scooter. Suspension duty is done by telescopic front forks and twin rear shock absorbers. Expect the scooter to be priced at around Rs. 80,000 (ex-showroom, New Delhi).
