Maruti Suzuki Vitara Brezza is the most popular compact SUV in its segment. Even though Vitara Brezza is in the market for few years now, the popularity of the model is very high just like when it was launched. The Indo-Japanese manufactured introduced Vitara Brezza only with diesel engine as the segment demand was for diesel models. But the competitors come with petrol engine option and the segment is growing which prompted the company to introduce petrol variant of Vitara Brezza.
The engine in question is the 1.0 L Boosterjet engine from Baleno RS. Maruti is already importing this engine so it won’t increase the cost for the company. The volume of Baleno RS is small, so introducing this engine on more models will lower the cost for Maruti. Apart from this engine, we are not expecting Maruti to make any changes on Vitara Brezza.

The 1.0 L Boosterjet engine produces 110 hp of power and 150 Nm of torque. This engine will be mated to 5 speed manual gearbox. But Maruti will tune the engine differently for Vitara Brezza as they want to improve efficiency compared to Baleno RS. We can expect the petrol variant to return close to 21 kmpl which is good considering the size of the vehicle.
Maruti is expected to offer petrol engine in top end variant ZXi+ which comes with features like projector headlamp, DRLs, alloy wheels, integrated spoiler, touch screen infotainment system with Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, climate control, cruise control, multi-function steering wheel, automatic headlamp, automatic wipers, cooled glove box and more.

The customizing options will be available on petrol model as it one of the main reasons for the popularity of Vitara Brezza. We are expecting Maruti to introduce petrol variant later this year. The 1.0 L engine will help the company to price these models aggressively as this engine attracts lower excise duty.
