Datsun Go Cross India Launch, Price, Engine, Specs, Features, Interior

Datsun is known for its affordable and practical products. Last time the company impressed us with its tallboy hatchback Datsun Redi-Go. The small car sharing components with Renault Kwid was not actually a piece of art, but it came as a practical one. Well, that’s what Datsun does. Now, the automaker is planning to roll out a crossover in the domestic market, which will be christened as the Datsun Go Cross.

The Datsun Go Cross concept was uncovered at the Tokyo Motor Show in 2015 and later it was displayed at the 2016 New Delhi Auto Expo as well. India being one of the largest and fastest growing car markets in the world, Datsun cannot ignore this space. And the speaking about crossovers and SUVs, yes, we love them. Therefore a stylish and practical crossover like the Go Cross makes perfect sense here.

As we have seen the concept, the production model of Datsun Go Cross is expected to come as a muscular and tough looking vehicle. It will come with a hexagonal front grille, the signature design of the brand. The honeycomb mesh and plenty of chrome garnishing will enhance the appeal at the front fascia, while the headlamps will sport projector units and integrated LED daytime running lights. Expect this car to feature sleek horizontal LED strips at both sides of the lower bumper and there will be auxiliary lamps in round shape, increasing the utility during off-roading tasks. A skid plate could be there as well.

The thick black side body cladding, large and bold alloy wheels, scuff plate, sleek character lines, roof rails will enhance the sportiness of the vehicle. The rear fascia is expected to receive C shaped LED taillights, integrated roof spoiler, a crafted looking bumper with skid plate. Overall, the Datsun Go Cross looks very attractive and interesting than the brand’s current products on offer here.

Inside the cabin, this car is likely to get several upmarket features and plenty of space as well. Power source for the upcoming crossover could be a 1.2-litre, three-cylinder, 12-valve, DOHC diesel engine under the hood. This same engine is available with the Datsun Go+ MPV also. The motor is capable of churning out 64.1 bhp of peak power at 5,000 rpm and 140 Nm of peak torque at 4,000 rpm. Transmission duty will be done by a 5-speed manual gearbox. There could be an automatic unit as well. Upon its arrival, the Go Cross will throw challenge to the Ford EcoSport, Renault Duster, etc.

Expected Launch: Late 2018
Expected Price: Rs. 5 lakh – Rs. 10 lakh (ex-showroom, New Delhi)
