Mahindra is working with its two subsidiaries SsangYong and Pininfarina in order to develop some exciting products that will enhance the its market share and give an edge over the rivals. One of them is going to be the much anticipated flagship model inspired by SsangYong Rexton and it is codenamed Y400. Upon arrival, this premium SUV could get the badge XUV700 as we have already reported.

This SUV will be built on the SsangYong Rexton’s platform and upon arrival it will lock horns with rivals like Toyota Fortuner and Ford Endeavour. Speaking about its design, this SUV will arrive with a very aggressive stance. Up front, it will boast sharp headlamps with projector units and integrated LED daytime running lights. The radiator grille will feature vertical slats with shiny chrome garnishing and the front bumper will be a chunky piece with rectangular sleek fog lamps, large central air intake and skid plate.

At the side profile, Mahindra Y400 (XUV700) will get sporty alloy wheels, subtle flared wheel arches, sharp character lines and black body cladding. Apart from that, it will also get turn indicator integrated ORVMs, blackened glass area and sleek chrome trim around the glass area. The roof rails will enhance the sportiness of the large SUV. Rear profile of this car will get sleek taillights, a chunky bumper and an integrated roof spoiler as well.

Interior of this SUV will offer an upmarket vibe with the features and design. It will get a multifunction steering wheel, analog and digital display consisting instrument cluster, a large touchscreen infotainment system with Apple CarPlay and Android Auto. Seat and upholstery materials will come of upmarket quality and in terms of space and comfort it will be pretty attractive.

On the powertrain front, the upcoming Mahindra Y400 (XUV700) will get a 2.0-litre GDi turbocharged petrol engine capable of churning out 225 bhp of peak power, while there will be a 2.2-litre turbocharged diesel engine from SsangYong that will kick out around 181 bhp of peak power. Transmission options will include both manual and automatic gearbox. Expect it to be priced very aggressively against the competitors. It could come priced between Rs. 20 lakh and Rs. 25 lakh (ex-showroom, New Delhi).
