Being the biggest car maker in India and the undeniable king of small car market, Maruti Suzuki has a wide range of affordable and popular compact cars in its portfolio. One of them is the Wagon-R that has seen immense success in the domestic market. This tallboy hatchback comes with a very practical design at an affordable pricing. Now, the Indo-Japanese automaker is preparing to bring the new generation model of this hatchback. What’s more interesting is Maruti is also gearing up to launch an MPV based on the Wagon-R.

Maruti Suzuki Wagon-R MPV would arrive as the most affordable three-row seater MPV in the country market. Expect it to be priced between Rs. 5 lakh and Rs. 8 lakh (ex-showroom, New Delhi). In terms of design, the MPV would come with identical appearance as the hatchback. Up front, there will be large headlamps and they would receive integrated LED daytime running lights.

A large front grille will be there with chrome garnishing and there would be neatly positioned fog lamps. At the side profile, the car could arrive with new design wheels, subtle character lines and turn indicator integrated ORVMs. A boxy shape will be visible just like the hatchback, while dimensionally, it will appear longer, taller and it will also have a greater wheelbase. Moving to the back, Wagon-R based MPV will sport compact and vertically positioned taillights and a chunky bumper.

Inside the cabin, Maruti Suzuki Wagon-R MPV will arrive with a third row seat and there will be more space and comfort on offer for the occupants. It will come with a multifunction steering wheel, analog and digital display consisting instrument cluster and there would be a touchscreen infotainment system as well. However, it is not sure, if the car will receive a touchscreen infotainment system or not.

On the powertrain front, Maruti Suzuki Wagon-R is expected to come available in both petrol and diesel engine options. The petrol variant will get a 1.0-litre unit that would be capable of kicking out generous amount of power and torque output. Expect impressive mileage from this car.
