Maruti Suzuki Brezza beat Tata Nexon to become the most sold SUV in the country in the month of February 2023

In February 2023, Maruti Suzuki Brezza stood tall as the most sold SUV in the country as it beat its main rival Tata Nexon. The Brezza posted a total of 15,787 unit sales as against 9,256 units during the same period last year with a YoY positive sales surge of 71 per cent. The sub-four-metre SUV had the second highest YoY growth within the top ten table.

The Tata Nexon finished in the second position with 13,914 unit sales as against 12,259 units during the corresponding period in 2022 with a YoY volume increase of 14 per cent. The Punch micro SUV garnered a total of 11,169 units as against 9,592 units in Feb 2022 with a YoY positive sales growth of 16 per cent in India.

The Hyundai Creta slotted in at fourth with a domestic tally of 10,421 units as against 9,606 units during the same period twelve months ago with a YoY growth of 8 per cent. The Hyundai Venue finished in the fifth position with close to 10,000 unit sales as against 10,212 units in Feb 2022 with a minor YoY sales decline of 2 per cent.

In the second half of the table, Kia’s Sonet finished in the sixth position with 9,836 units as against 6,154 units during the corresponding period in 2022 with a YoY sales surge of 60 per cent. The Maruti Suzuki Grand Vitara has been well received amongst customers and it reflects on its sales numbers. The midsize SUV is available in an expansive range.

The Grand Vitara is the only model in its segment to offer a mild hybrid, a strong hybrid and a CNG powertrain. It recorded a total of 9,183 units last month while the Kia Seltos managed 8,012 units against 6,575 units with a YoY growth of 22 per cent. The Mahindra Scorpio endured the highest YoY growth out of them all.

The Scorpio N and Scorpio Classic combined to post 6,950 unit sales as against 2,610 units with a YoY surge of 166 per cent. The Thar beat XUV700 to round out the top ten with 5,004 units.
