The AGS technology helped significantly to make Celerio popular; around 36% customers opted for AGS models in H1 FY18

Maruti Suzuki Celerio has been one of the most popular and bestselling products in India from the Indo-Japanese automaker. The car has received pretty good success in the domestic market alongside the global markets as well. In India, it has sold three lakh units in less than four years and a large number of that is attributed to the AGS variants.

As the automaker reveals, around 36% of the customers opted for AGS variants of Celerio in between April and September 2017. Also, the top end Z trim model has contributed 48% of the total Celerio sales in the first half of current financial year. Interestingly, Celerio was Maruti Suzuki’s first model to receive this widely appreciated AGS technology.

In fact, success of the AGS technology in the Celerio inspired Maruti Suzuki to introduce the technology in other cars of the brand’s portfolio. Now, with the Celerio facelifted launched in the country at a price range of Rs. 4.15 lakh and Rs. 5.34 lakh (ex-showroom, New Delhi), Maruti Suzuki is expecting a sales surge for this model and the festive season is also going to play an important role in sales of the hatchback.

The 2017 Maruti Suzuki Celerio facelift comes wearing design changes at exterior and inside the cabin. It receives a new front grille with honeycomb black mesh. The fog lamp housings also come with updated appearance. The interior too receives updated look and it gets improved safety features.

The facelifted hatchback sports driver airbag as standard across all the trims. Apart from that, the 2017 Celerio also meets pedestrian, offset and side impact safety rules. On the powertrain front, it gets a 1.0-litre K10B petrol engine that is capable of churning out 67 bhp of peak power and 90 Nm of peak torque. Transmission options include a 5-speed manual gearbox and the AGS.
