New generation Hyundai Tucson secures 15,045 contracts on day one as the larger SUV debuts new hybrid tech, 17-inch Pleos Connect screen, etc The all-new Hyundai Tucson has secured 15,045 pre-orders in South Korea on the first day of official contracts which opened on October 22, 2026. The fifth generation SUV has decisively beaten the 10,842 first day pre-orders recorded by its predecessor in September 2020. The difference works out to 4,203 additional orders or nearly 39 per cent over the fourth-gen model’s opening tally. The Tucson has also grown substantially in its long wheelbase specification. It measures 4,700 mm long, 1,905 mm wide and 1,685 mm high as the wheelbase stretches to 2,785 mm. Compared to the previous LWB model, overall length rises by 60 mm, width by 40 mm and wheelbase by 30 mm. The rear doors now open to 83 degrees instead of 73 degrees and second-row headroom increases by 29 mm. On the inside, Hyundai has moved the Tucson towards a far more digital interface. Selected Korean variants gain the 17-inch Pleos Connect central display, dual wireless smartphone chargers, Digital Key 2 and a head-up display. The equipment list also comprises electrically adjustable and ventilated front seats, relaxation seats, heated rear seats, a 12-speaker Bang & Olufsen audio system and a panoramic sunroof. The Korean range starts at KRW 31.4 million (Rs. 22.47 lakh) for the 1.6-litre turbo petrol H-Pick as the hybrid begins at KRW 36.15 million (Rs. 26.12 lakh) after tax benefits. The petrol engine is linked to an eight-speed automatic transmission. The 1.6-litre turbo hybrid gets a six-speed automatic, regenerative braking and Hyundai’s e-Motion Drive technology which incorporates e-Dynamic Drive and e-Comfort Drive functions. Nine airbags are standard on the Korean H-Pick and the safety systems extend into a substantial driver assist suite. Forward Collision-Avoidance Assist can detect vehicles, pedestrians and cyclists, as Lane Following Assist 2, lane-departure prevention, Rear Cross-Traffic Collision-Avoidance Assist and Safe Exit Warning are also present. Smart Cruise Control with Stop & Go, navigation-linked cruise control, Highway Driving Assist, driver-attention monitoring and Intelligent Speed Limit Assist further support highway driving. Top-of-the-line variants can be specified with HTRAC all-wheel drive, rough-road drive modes and Ground View. Memory Reverse Assist is another notable new function as it can record the path taken into a confined parking space and steer the Tucson back along that route when reversing out. The system sits alongside the newer camera and sensing hardware now available across the range. The exterior utilises Hyundai’s Art of Steel design philosophy and moves towards a noticeably squarer stance. The Korean model gets 18- or 20-inch alloy wheels, full-width LED lighting at both ends and an optional full-LED headlamp setup featuring two thin-lens projectors. Selected trims also receive dark metallic bumper, fender and side garnish finishes, satin chrome window surrounds and gloss-black detailing as Hyundai has given the fifth-gen Tucson a visibly different identity from the outgoing SUV.
