Volkswagen is working on production version of I.D. Buzz concept; scheduled to launch by 2022 with a cargo variant
Volkswagen is all set to bring back its iconic Microbus in new avatar. The German brand showcased the futuristic compact van in concept model through the I.D. Buzz that garnered pretty much attention. Now, the automaker says the electric powered vehicle will be launched by 2022. This vehicle comes as part of the brand’s strategy to launch 30 EVs by 2025.
The I.D. Buzz concept derived Volkswagen’s new microbus will come incorporating several advanced technologies like autonomous driving tech as well. Interestingly, Volkswagen will also introduce a cargo variant of the car. The brand is yet to disclose further details about the cargo variant, but it is clear that this model will focus on moving goods and equipment.

The Volkswagen I.D. Buzz Cargo would be powered by the same electric powertrain as the standard model. As we have reported earlier, the car gets power from a 111 kWh battery pack that is capable of kicking out 198 bhp of peak power. The electric powertrain enables the vehicle to run 600 km on a single charge. It is capable of accelerating 0-100 kmph in less than 5 seconds and top speed for the model is 160 kmph.
Speaking about the Volkswagen I.D. Buzz, it comes offering seating capacity for 8 occupants. Initially, the vehicle will be launched in markets like Europe, America and China. It is not sure, if this will make its way into Indian market.

The Volkswagen I.D. Buzz concept brings the retro charm of the iconic 1949 Type 2 Van. It blends the retro touch perfectly with modern style and advanced high end technologies. While revealing the plan to launch a cargo variant of the vehicle, VW has also said that ii is working on level 5 autonomous driving technology that to be implemented in a major number of future vehicles from the brand.
