Compared to the standard Q2, the long wheelbase version is 38 mm longer and features additional wheelbase of 28 mm
We have informed about the development of extended wheelbase version of the entry-level Q2 SUV before and now the real deal has surfaced online courtesy of the undisguised spy images. Audi is gearing up for its global premiere and it is expected to be responsible for good volume sales.
The Ingolstadt-based manufacturer will initially be selling the Q2 L in the Chinese market and seeing its response there, it could be introduced in other Asian countries. The cosmetic changes are not noticeable in the first glance and the obvious dimensional modifications have been listed.
The Audi Q2 L measures 4,229 mm in length. 1,785 mm in width, 1,548 mm in height and has a wheelbase of 2,629 mm. Compared to the standard Q2, the long wheelbase version is 38 mm longer and features additional wheelbase of 28 mm. The Q2 L also weighs heavier than the regular Q2.
Car makers are accustomed to the latest trend of making Chinese-exclusive vehicles to enhance their sales aspirations. The main difference, in most cases, will be more room for rear passengers as Chinese customers prefer extended wheelbase models.
It is developed under FAW-Volkswagen joint venture and is more likely to go on sale in the People’s Republic this October. According to reports emerging from China, the Audi Q2 L’s starting price is estimated to be around 150,000 yuan (Rs. 15.96 lakh).
The smallest SUV from Audi will initially take power from a 1.4-litre TSI petrol engine which is good enough to produce a maximum power output of 150 hp and 250 Nm of peak torque. More powertrain options including plug-in hybrid and all-electric variants can be expected as well for increased buyers’ choice.
