Audi will launch the Q2 Long Wheelbase version for Chinese market later this year with multiple petrol engine options

We reported earlier that Audi could launch the Q2 Long Wheelbase in emerging markets like India after it rolls out in China later this year. The Q2 is the smallest SUV from the German luxury car manufacturer’s famous Q series. The car has been well received since it was unveiled and considering the growing demands of premium cars and specially SUVs in India, Audi is expected to launch the highly promising Q2 sometime this year after enduring 2 percent sales growth in 2017.

Christened as the Audi Q2 L, the long wheelbase SUV is based on Volkswagen’s famous MQB modular platform. It was first unveiled at the Geneva Motor Show in 2016 and is expected to get an electric powertrain with attractive drive range. The youngest model in the Q series incorporates Audi’s latest design language. It appears sharp and stylish alongside being sporty as well.

Dimensionally, the standard version of the entry-level luxury SUV measures 4,191 mm in length, 1,794 mm in width and 1,508 mm in height. It also has a wheelbase of 2,601 mm. The long wheelbase version is expected to come with around 100 mm of extra length and an extended wheelbase of around 2,701 mm that means it will offer around 100 mm of extra space to the occupants.

This Audi Q2 LWB was initially planned for the Chinese market, as the demands for luxury cars and extended wheelbase models are pretty high there. It seems, Audi believes the Q2 L has good chances to become successful in other markets too and this why it may get an electric treatment.
