Volkswagen’s New Mobility Services Brand to be Launched

Volkswagen’s new mobility services brand will launch later this year and will offer autonomous and shared transport services

German automaker Volkswagen is set to launch a new mobility services brand later this year, which will focus on offering autonomous and shared transport services. The company has tied up with Gett’s taxi service for its new mobility service. Volkswagen has announced the arrival of the new company, while demonstrating the ID concept, its first purpose-built electric vehicle.

Volkswagen plans to introduce 30 electric cars by the end of 2025, and the new company comes with link to that plan which is termed as Together Strategy 2025. Through the new mobility service Volkswagen will provide autonomous shuttle service for urban areas.

Speaking about the new company, VW group CEO Matthias Müller has said, in future people will be able to share cars with other customers, and this way they all will be Volkswagen’s customer at the end. Also, the company is developing technology, which the private cars will also be able to use alongside the vehicles included in the new mobility service.

The new mobility service brand is expected to launch sometime in November this year. Volkswagen has not revealed the name of the company yet, but it has revealed that, the Israeli based start-up Gett has already come aboard with VW’s new venture. The Gett provides app based taxi service, and it connects customers with the taxi drivers through app.

The upcoming mobility service brand is going to be the 13th company from VW AG. Apart from just manufacturing vehicles, the German company plans to rise as a mobility service provider by 2025. Also it aspires to be the market leader in Europe in terms of mobility service provider.
