Volkswagen ID Crozz II concept derived compact coupe SUV could arrive in 2020; appears as an enhanced version of ID Crozz

Volkswagen is thriving towards launching a range of electric powered cars by 2025. The EV fleet from the German automaker will comprise several models across different segments. As part of its futuristic EV strategy, Volkswagen has unveiled the ID Crozz II concept at the 2017 Frankfurt Motor Show previewing an autonomous driving electric powered compact SUV that would arrive by 2020.

This new concept model comes as an enhanced version of the ID Crozz concept that the brand unveiled previously at the 2017 Shanghai Motor Show. Speaking about the new concept model, it wears an eye-catching look with Hibiscus Red Metallic paint scheme. This unique looking compact SUV concept arrives with a design that is different compared to the conventional crossovers around us.

The concept sports a coupeish roofline and fluid design theme that is visible from every angle. It gets sharp LED headlamps with a sleek LED strip running between them. Being an electric powered compact SUV, it doesn’t get any conventional radiator grille and the muscular front bumper boasts sculpted look. A skid plate is also there with black cladding enhancing the visual appeal further. Overall, the new and updated front fascia looks like to be retained in the production model. However, the sleek and wide LED strip would transform into a chrome strip in the production car.

Moving to the side profile, the concept model gets 21-inch bold and sporty alloy wheels. The black cladding blackened roof and glass area along with nicely curved roofline enhance its visual appeal further. The lower panel of the new concept has been revised compared to the original ID Crozz concept. Rear of the concept too features sleek LED taillights and a chunky bumper.

Inside the cabin, Volkswagen ID Crozz II features stylish appearance along with several advanced tech, which are expected to make their way into the production model. There are five smart lights located at the door panels. They alerts the driver in case of a potential collision by flashing red lights. Apart from that, there is a flat-bottom unique shaped multifunction steering wheel, 10.2-inch touchscreen infotainment system, a 5.8-inch Active Info Display, digital rearview mirror. The voice command system and Alcantara upholstery enhance its premiumness further. It offers plenty of space and the doors too come with unique technology. The rear passenger door can be slided to the back. There will be a fully autonomous driving system as well.

On the powertrain front, the Volkswagen ID Crozz II gets twin electric motors that will kick out a total power output of 301 hp. Volkswagen claims it will be able to run at a top speed of 180 kmph and it will also get a running range of 500 km thanks to a large battery pack that will feature fast charging system. The battery can be charged up to 80% in just 30 minutes and the SUV will get AWD as standard.
