India-Bound Nissan Leaf Revealed Powertrain


Nissan Leaf is going to be a very important product in the Indian electric vehicle market very soon. This is also going to be a crucial car from the Japanese brand in order to grab a sizeable chunk the country’s EV market considering the Indian government’s ambitious strategy to adopt pure electric mobility across the country by 2030. The Nissan has just unveiled its new Leaf with an attractive and sharp styling. Expect this electric powered car to arrive here next year.

The 2018 Nissan Leaf looks like have taken inspiration from the new generation Micra hatchback. It dons a mature styling compared to the predecessor. Speaking about the style, the sharp LED projector headlamps with LED daytime running lights, Nissan’s signature V shaped chrome trim at the black front grille, sculpted looking bumper with rectangular shaped fog lamps enhance the visual appeal of the Leaf EV.

Moving to the side profile of this electric hatchback, there is sporty alloy wheels, subtly flared wheel arches, sleek creases above the rear fender, blackened ORVMs, black glass are and the roof too wears a black colour theme. Thanks to the partially blackened C pillar, the car gets a floating roof design. Apart from that, it dons a sloping roof, shark fin antenna, sharp vertically positioned LED taillights, black roof spoiler, a sculpted looking tailgate and a black bumper with sleek blue trim add zing to this electric car. The contrast exterior paint scheme gives it a stylish appearance.

Inside the cabin, 2018 Nissan Leaf EV appears with an all-black theme that enhances its sportiness and premium style. It features a flat-bottom multifunction three-spoke steering wheel, analog and digital display consisting instrument cluster with sporty touch, a large touchscreen infotainment system. The car offers generous amount of space and comfort to the occupants and it sports upmarket quality materials inside the cabin enhancing premiumness. The car gets loads of safety features and advanced techs to be the inside the cabin.

On the powertrain front, the current Nissan Leaf EV can run up to 228 km and 280 km with the two battery packs on offer with the car, that are a 24 kWh and a 30 kWh unit. New model gets a bigger 40 kWh lithium-ion battery pack that kicks out around 148 bhp of peak power and 320 Nm of peak torque. It could deliver a running range of around 242 km. The India-spec model is expected to come here as a CBU unit, that would make it a pricey car here. It is likely to be displayed at the 2018 New Delhi Auto Expo and the new Leaf EV could be priced at around Rs. 20 lakh (ex-showroom, New Delhi).
