Technologies have improved a lot which makes our life less stressful and easy. But some things are meant to be done by humans and we do it much better than computers. Most of the manufactures are working on autonomous driving but government hasn’t approved yet to leave driving completely for computers as we can’t fully trust these systems.
Most of the luxury cars are fitted with autonomous driving systems but after sometime we have to take manual controls or else the system will be deactivated. Tesla popularized the autonomous driving system which is very advanced but we have seen so many accidents which happened due to these system failures which is why even the manufacturers tell that don’t leave driver seat or trust this system completely for driving.

Bhavesh Patel, 39, was caught in UK for using this autonomous system and leaving his drive seat. This situation is very dangerous for not only himself but also for other road users. He was caught by another driver on video for using this system and he couldn’t do anything. There is no law in UK which allows drivers to use autonomous driving on public roads.
For the next 18 months he won’t be able to drive cars and he was ordered to carry out 100 hours of unpaid work. Along with this he was also put on rehabilitation programme for 10 days and has to pay £1,800 in costs. Bhavesh admitted that the stunt had been silly and he was simply the unlucky one who has been caught using this feature.

Tesla offers autonomous system in all their modern cars. The system uses camera, radar and sensors for driving. The number of error occur in this system is very low but still it can’t simply match humans as the way we react to a situation is completely different to the pre-programmed computer system.
Even though roads and infrastructure have improved a lot which helps to reduce the number of accidents, we still have to be alert while driving. Manufacturers are working towards perfecting the autonomous system. If you don’t have time to drive then simply take a cab which will be a much safer option as you can utilize the time for other things.
