TVS Delivers 4,500 G310R Bikes to BMW in FY 2016-17

TVS aims to increase the production rate of the BMW G310R in the current fiscal further; the naked bike is being built at the brand’s Hosur plant

TVS Motors has delivered 4,500 units of BMW G310R to the German bike manufacturer in the last fiscal. In the current fiscal, Hosur-based two-wheeler manufacturer aims to increase the number of production for the bike. Interestingly, G310R is not launched in India yet and under its partnership with BMW Motorrad, TVS makes the bike in its Hosur plant for the overseas markets.

With the BMW G310R expected to launch in the domestic market sometime later this year, production will increase significantly. The BMW G310R is the most affordable bike from the German premium bike manufacturer and its adventure tourer version G310GS is also likely to be produced at the Hosur plant by TVS, once it reaches Indian shore sometime in 2018.

In recent past, TVS Motors has seen rapid growth and TVS Apache bike range along with Wego and Jupiter scooters have played crucial role behind the success of the brand. Also, partnership with BMW Motorrad has helped the homegrown brand to develop TVS Apache RR 310S like sportsbike that is based on the TVS Akula 310 concept.

The TVS Apache RR 310S shares several components and technology with the BMW G310R. The bike is expected to be launched during June-July 2017 and upon launch, it will challenge the tough and established rivals like KTM RC 390, Kawasaki Ninja 300 and Yamaha R3. No wonder, with this model, TVS will be able to take its game up.

The upcoming TVS flagship model appears very appealing and sculpted looking with its fairing and sharp design and its powerful engine is borrowed from the BMW G310R. Upon launch of this bike, TVS hopes to increase its market share in the motorcycle segment in Indian two-wheeler market, where it had 14.7% share in last FY. In FY 2016-17, the company sold a total of 2,489,773 units, which marked a 12.69% rise over compared to previous year’s sales result.
