Toyota plans to increase production to enhance the export of different models to the overseas markets including the Etios
Toyota Kirloskar Motor (TKM) plans to increase the exports of Etios range from India. Currently, the company exports Etios sedan and Etios Liva hatchback to South African market only. Last year around 50,000 units of Etios series were shipped to the South African market from India. Now, the company is preparing to enhance the export range with more markets.
To cater more markets, TKM is planning to increase production at its Bidadi plant in Karnataka. Currently, this plant utilises only 50% of its total production capacity. It can roll out a total of 2.10 lakh units of vehicles per year. Apart from that, TKM is also aiming to fully utilise its first production plant that currently utilises 95%-97% of its total production capacity. This plant has a total annual production capacity of 1 lakh units per year.

TKM is a joint venture between the Japanese auto giant and Kirloskar group and it is currently in talks with its headquarter in Japan. The other overseas market where the brand is aiming to export vehicles will be right-hand drive markets preferably. But, the company is yet to confirm the decision as it is currently in its initial phase.
Speaking about Indian market, Toyota has cleared that it won’t focus on the mass market segment. Instead it will focus on the large premium products like the ones it has launched in recent past including Innova Crysta MPV, all-new Fortuner SUV etc. But, it is gearing up to launch the Daihatsu brand in the country that will be the group’s tool to grab a good share in the mass market segment.

Toyota is preparing to roll over couple of exciting models in the domestic market in near future that includes the Vios sedan, C-HR crossover etc. It is clearly emphasising on the SUV and crossover segment, which has immense popularity in the country market.
