Tata Motors Posted 52% Sales Growth In December 2017

Tata’s success story is attributed to high sales of Tiago, Tigor and Nexon; sold 14,180 passenger cars overall last month

Tata Motors is in the path of constant growth for last couple of months and its success story continued in December 2017 as well. The homegrown auto manufacturer posted 52% of impressive overall sales growth in the segment and in the passenger car segment too it posted 31% sales growth. The success story in PV segment is largely attributed to the high sales of new models like Tiago, Tigor and Nexon.

In the last month of 2017, Tata Motors registered 54,627 units of overall sales combining both passenger vehicles and commercial vehicles, while it recorded 35,825 units in same month in 2016 combining both PVs and CVs. In the passenger car segment, the brand posted 14,180 units in December 2017 compared to 10,827 units in same month of 2016.

What’s more interesting is, Tata Motors’ December 2017 sales number is the highest since 2012. This clearly shows that the brand is growing fast. In the UV segment, one of the most competitive categories in Indian car market, Tata Motors recorded 406% growth in last month thanks to the Nexon and Hexa. Both these cars won the hearts of Indian buyers with their attractive design, high end features and upmarketness alongside competitive pricing.

In between April and December 2017, Tata Motors sold 129,229 units cumulatively compared to 112,539 units in the same period in 2016. This marked a 15% growth for the auto brand. Not only in the passenger car segment, in commercial vehicle category too, Tata Motors posted 40,447 units of domestic sales in December 2017 marking a growth of 62%, as in the same month of 2016 the brand registered 24,998 units.

As we reported earlier, Tata Motors is not only focusing on the passenger car segment, the auto major is also keen to grow bigger in the commercial vehicle category of Indian market. It seems, there company is in the right path to post positive growth in both the segments.

Tata aims become third biggest carmaker in the country by 2020 and or that it is aiming to increase market share with more new models here. The brand is currently working on X451 premium hatchback, Q501 and Q502 SUVs. Alongside that, the automaker is also focusing on expanding its retail network across the country.
