Honda Amaze has emerged as the top-selling model in the domestic portfolio in its latest iteration with overhauled exterior and interior
Honda Cars India is on a roll lately courtesy of the latest generation Amaze. Despite the brand enduring 2 percent fall in YoY sales, the subcompact sedan continued its momentum and shone above other models in the domestic fleet by registering 9,644 units in August 2018 and it shows no indications of slowing down in momentum.
It was the fourth consecutive month Honda had been able to garner more than 9,000 units for the new Amaze, and the third month on the trot that the sedan featured in the top 10 best-selling monthly charts. Having entered market in May 2018, the Amaze overtook City as the top-selling Honda model in a short span of time.
In July 2018, the 2018 Amaze set the record for most sold individual Honda vehicle in a single month in India by delivering 10,180 units. The Japanese manufacturer took the covers off the new Amaze at the 2018 Auto Expo in February and increased the anticipation of its market arrival as the second generation model boasted several changes inside and out.
The Amaze competes against the likes of Maruti Suzuki Dzire, Hyundai Xcent, Tata Tigor, Ford Aspire and Volkswagen Ameo in the hotly contested sub-four-metre space. It is sold in 12 different trims with base price for E grade starting at Rs. 5.6 lakh and it goes all the way up to Rs. 9 lakh for the range-topping V AT model (ex-showroom prices).
Cumulatively, the new Amaze managed to sell a little over 47,000 units in the five months of its presence and is sure to be hitting the 50,000 mark in October 2018. One of the key points of its success is the completely overhauled exterior as Honda opted out the family-oriented face for a global design with upright front fascia.
The interior has also received several changes in the form of feature additions to bring up a more modernised cabin. Though no powertrain changes are made as the 1.2-litre i-VTEC petrol and 1.5-litre i-DTEC diesel units have continued, Honda added a segment-first diesel CVT that acts as another USP of the sedan.
