MG Motor’s first car in India is expected to be the MG XS compact SUV; it’s a rebadged version of the MG ZS

MG Motor is ready to launch its first car in India in 2018. Despite speculations that MG’s first car will be rolled out in domestic market in 2019, it seems the SAIC owned British brand is ready to make the launch prior. While the brand is yet tight lipped about the model, it could be the XS compact SUV that is a rebadged version of ZS.

MG Motor first showcased the XS compact SUV in Guangzhou in November 2016 and the car has received pretty good response. Considering the increasing demand for SUVs in India, we can assume XS too will be able to garner attention here. Thanks to its local production at the erstwhile General Motors plant in Halol, this car is expected to be priced competitively.

Interestingly, as MG Motor is gearing up to start selling its cars ahead of its previously set target, the brand will be able to draw more attention compared to the other upcoming brands like Kia and Peugeot. Speaking about the MG XS, this SUV has been already launched in couple of international markets like Thailand, UK and Australia in 2017.

The MG Xs comes with sharp headlamps with projector lamps and integrated LED daytime running lights. There is a large front grille that bears MG’s signature styling. There is chrome trim around it enhancing style further. The central air intake, neatly positioned fog lamps add zing to the front fascia.

On the powertrain front, MG XS is expected to be available with both petrol and diesel engine options and all these motors will generate impressive power and torque output. Apart from that, there will be impressive fuel efficiency on offer from this car. Upon arrival, it will throw tough challenge to the Hyundai Creta and Renault Duster.
