AMG S63 Coupe does the 0-100 kmph sprint in merely 3.9 seconds and you’ll be going at a speed faster than you even realize
Mercedes India is going quite aggressive in the luxury car arena in the country and is constantly launching new cars in the country. It is on the back of these high end launches that the German car manufacturer has gone up to the numero uno position in the luxury car segment in the country.
The latest launch from the stable of Mercedes is the AMG S63 Coupe which comes with a starting sticker price of Rs 2.6 crores (ex-showroom, New Delhi). Redesigned with the AMG treatment, the S63 gets sportier bumpers with bigger air dams, quad exhausts which make a sound the enthusiasts will droll over and the AMG characteristic alloy wheels.
Force originates from a 5.5-liter V8 Bi-Turbo petrol motor that produces 585 HP and a mammoth 900 Nm of torque which is more than enough to pin the driver to the seat the moment they step on the accelerator.
The performance-hungry motor gets mated to a to a 7-speed AMG SpeedShift transmission. It sheds 65 kgs compared to the outgoing CL63 AMG which it replaces as it weighs in at 1,995 kgs. It does the 0-100 kmph sprint in merely 3.9 seconds and you’ll be going at a speed faster than you even realise. The top whack comes in at an electronically limited 250 kmph but then you always have the option of increasing the same to 300 km/hr with the discretionary AMG Driver’s bundle.
AMG S63 Coupe has three drive modes: Controlled Efficiency, Sport and Manual. The enthusiasts will like the Manual mode.
There’s road surface scan to optimize the ride and a world first curve tilting function. It goes into the corners like a bike does and it reduces the lateral acceleration the passengers are subject to on higher speeds. This lateral force gets converted into vertical force and the car tilts a bit towards the corner. The result is faster cornering and a pleasurable drive.
The AMG S63 Coupe will come with the option of a wide-range of customization that Mercedes will have on offer and the customers can get a quote based upon the customisations they opt in for. It was only yesterday that Mercedes took the covers off the S63 AMG, G63 AMG and S Class Coupe for India.
