Mercedes AMG GT R to feature in Transformers movie as director Michael Bay announced the return of Autobot ‘Drift’
The Drift Autobot will return to action as Transformers: The Last Knight director took to twitter to reveal its existence in the movie. The customised GT R pictured above will play the role of Drift which featured in the previous editions of the Transformer sci-fi all-guns-out movie as a Bugatti Veyron.
Painted in black with red striped accents alongside newly designed wheels, the recently unveiled Mercedes-AMG GT R looks more intimidating. The other important cars to grace the movie are the Barricade Ford Mustang which has been excessively modified and a redesigned Bumblebee with carbon-fibre exterior.

The movie will act as a huge promotion for the AMG GT R sportcar that will enter US market by the time of the silver screen release in June 2017. The ‘Beast of the Green Hell’ paid homage to the Nürburgring Nordschleife during its launch at the end of June. Under the hood, the Mercedes-Benz AMG GTR comes powered by the same 4.0-litre twin-turbocharged V8 petrol engine found in the standard GT and GT S versions.

The tuned engine produces a maximum power output of 577 hp and 700 Nm of peak torque, up from 503 hp and 650 Nm and 456 hp and 600 Nm in the 2017 AMG GT S and the base AMG GT respectively. The green monster will be propelled from o to 100 kmph in just 3.5 seconds – three tenths of a second faster than the Mercedes-AMG GT. The most hardcore sportscar every produced by Mercedes Benz has standard rear-wheel steering that adjusts the rear wheels for better handling while cornering.
