Mahindra Partners with Ola to Launch EV Fleet in Nagpur

Ola to operate 100 Mahindra e2o Plus in Nagpur as part of its fleet; city to adopt over 50 charging stations

Nagpur has achieved the unique feat of becoming the first pro electric mobility city in India. Indian auto major Mahindra has tied up with app-based cab service provider Ola to roll out a fleet of electric vehicles in the city. Under the partnership between these two companies, there will be 100 Mahindra e2o Plus EVs in Ola’s fleet.

Interestingly, Ola will not only operate Mahindra e2o Plus in Nagpur as part of its fleet, but there will be electric bus, electric rickshaws and electric autos as well. All these vehicles will be sourced from various automakers like Tata Motors, Kinetic, TVS, BYD etc. Overall, Ola will operate around 200 electric vehicles in the city and there will be more than 50 charging stations for the electric vehicles.

Under the partnership between Mahindra and Ola, both the companies will train and educate drivers on maintenance and usage of the in-car technology comes with the Mahindra e2o Plus electric hatchback. As Indian government is pushing to shift to all-electric mobility by 2030, this project is believed to play a crucial role for the drive.

With this partnership, electric vehicle sales in the country is also expected to be increased by significant margin. Interestingly, Mahindra is known for its advancement in introducing electric vehicle in the Indian market. The auto major currently offers EVs like two door hatchback e2o Plus that replaced the four door e2o and e-Verito compact sedan too. The company has been the first brand in the country to make and sell EVs.

Speaking about the Mahindra e2o Plus, it offers more space compared to the previous e2o. Top end trim of this hatchback is capable of running 140 kilometer on a single charge. Available in four different trim options, pricing for the EV starts from Rs. 5.46 lakh (ex-showroom, New Delhi).
