Mahindra e2o Plus is an updated version of e2o electric hatchback and it comes with four-doors, top-end variant has range of 140 km on a single charge
Marking Mahindra’s entry into the mass market electric hatch back segment, the e2o CitySmart car has been claimed to provide a range of up to 140 km in the top-spec variant on a single charge. Price starts at Rs.5.46 lakh for the base P4 variant (ex-showroom Delhi, post state subsidy and FAME incentive). For self employed and business operations, it can be bought with tax savings of up to Rs. 1.6 lakh on purchase in the first year.
Launched by Mahindra Electric in Delhi in October last year, the e2o has been rated to achieve a top speed of 85 kmph. Powered by the brand’s latest electric drive train technology it is lauded to drive “Mahindra’s vision of the Future of Mobility”. While seating four adults, the e2o has tall-boy design and is longer by 310 mm, wider by 61 mm and taller by 25 mm compared to its predecessor.

The additional wheelbase of 300 mm meant, the e2o provides extra interior room. A whole host of connected features developed for the electric hatchback include remote diagnostics through telematics, connectivity through smart phone app, new and advanced infotainment system, regenerative braking, Hill Hold control for easy driving in hilly terrains, REVive for reserve charge and automated messages among few others.
Customers have the option to choose between P2, P4, P6 and P8 trim levels while the four colour offerings are Coral Blue, Sparkling Wine, Arctic Silver, Solid White. It is claimed to render low running costs as Mahindra estimates it at just 70p per km. It comes equipped with direct drive transmission and allows for low carbon footprint with Zero tail-pipe emissions. The e2o Plus gets powered by a 72V battery back with a peak output of 41 hp at 3,500 rpm and 91 Nm at 2,500 rpm.

The other notable features are a small turning radius of 4.35 m, electric power steering, reverse camera, home charging via a normal 16 Amp plug point, etc. The remote diagnostics feature enables 10 on-board computers to track around 196 performance and health related parameters while the e2o Plus app informs the driver about the nearest charging station.
