Made-in-India Jeep Compass Trailhawk will get panoramic sunroof and cruise control, along with new nine-speed automatic transmission
Jeep India started production of Compass Trailhawk late last year at FCA’s Ranjangaon facility just outside Pune. The American SUV manufacturer is exporting the made-in-India Compass Trailhawk to overseas markets like Australia and Japan. It is expected to be launched in India in the coming weeks as the range-topping model.
Bookings have commenced for initial payment of Rs. 50,000 across select dealerships in India reportedly. Deliveries are likely from next month onwards. The production base, which currently acts as the hub for the right-hand-drive Compass across the world, will have been rolling out the top-spec Trailhawk model for the domestic market already.

Compass is currently the most affordable Jeep SUV in India and it has been able to garner plenty of attention since launching here by averaging over 2,500 unit sales monthly. The India-spec Compass SUV gets three different trims that are Sport, Longitude and Limited with the latter one being the existing top-end variant.
Jeep Compass Trailhawk Exterior Design
The Trailhawk will sit on top of it with exterior updates and more off-roading equipment. Speaking about the design of Jeep Compass Trailhawk, it gets different looking alloy wheels compared to the regular model. Other distinctive elements include dual-tone exterior body paint while improved off-roading meant better angle of approach at 30 degrees, breakover of 24.4 degrees and departure of 33.6 degrees.

The Jeep Compass Trailhawk is equipped with underbody skid plate. It gets the SUV maker’s Active Drive low-range 4WD system that helps it in serious off-roading tasks. Also, there is a new Rock mode for the Selec-Terrain 4WD system. Inside the cabin, it features all weather floor mats.
The Jeep Compass Trailhawk SUV gets 20 mm higher ground clearance compared to the standard model. Its front and rear bumper have been designed different focusing on off-roading duties. It comes with better approach and departure angles compared to the standard model and it also gets Hill Descent Control as standard.

Dimensionally, it measures 4,398 mm in length, 2,033 mm in width and 1,529 mm in height while having a ground clearance of 216 mm and maximum water wading depth of 482.6 mm (regular Compass has 405 mm). It is 3 mm longer, 215 mm wider and 111 mm shorter.
Jeep Compass Trailhawk Interior and Features
The Interior of the new top-spec variant does boast several changes such as an all-black leather seats with ‘Trailhawk’ badging embossed on it. Other sporty touches available include red accents on the dashboard. The gear console, door panels and dashboard get a matching paint scheme as well.
The important overall cosmetic updates in the Jeep Compass Trailhawk are ‘Trailhawk’ badge on the boot lid, anti-glare black hood decal, skid plate protection, fog lamp bezels, all-terrain 225/60 R17 rubber, Ruby Red tow hooks, silver ‘Trail Rated’ badge on front fenders, grey accents, etc.
The interior also possesses dual-zone automatic air conditioning system, seven-inch UConnect infotainment system with Android Auto and Apple CarPlay connectivity, six airbags, etc. Panoramic sunroof is a much-welcomed addition as well as it is not available in any of the existing variants along with cruise control.

The biggest mechanical update is the arrival of the long-awaited combination of diesel engine and an automatic transmission. The Jeep Compass Trailhawk will continue to use the same 2.0-litre diesel engine which is good enough to generate a maximum power output of 170 hp and 350 Nm of peak torque.
We suspect a claimed mileage figure of around 13 kmpl. However, it will be coupled with a brand new nine-speed automatic along with the six-speed manual transmission. The regular 1.4-litre petrol engine uses either a six-speed manual or a seven-speed auto already making 160 bhp and 250 Nm.

Currently the standard Jeep Compass is retailed with a base Sport 1.4 petrol at Rs. 15.23 lakh and it goes all the way up to Rs. Rs. 21.94 lakh for the range-topping Limited (O) 2.0 diesel 4×4 (both prices, ex-showroom New Delhi). The new Trailhawk could cost around Rs. 25 lakh (ex-showroom, New Delhi).
