India-Made Maruti Suzuki S-Cross 1.5 Debuts in Indonesia

India-made Maruti Suzuki S-Cross 1.5 gets only M15A petrol engine with both manual and automatic transmission options for Indonesia

India made Maruti Suzuki S-Cross cross over makes its debut in Indonesia. The car is showcased at the ongoing 2016 Gaikindo Indonesia International Auto Show (GIIAS). While the Indian market is expecting the facelift S-Cross, the Indonesian market gets the pre facelift model. The S-Cross was launched in India last year, and it is sold through the Nexa premium dealerships.

The Indonesia spec model will be manufactured in India. But the car will get a 1.5 litre M15A petrol engine under the hood. Also on the transmission front this car will get both 5 speed manual and 6 speed automatic gearbox options. The AT variant gets paddle shifters fitted to the steering wheel as well. While in India Maruti Suzuki sells the S-Cross with two diesel engine options only.

The India spec model gets 1.3 litre DDiS 200 and 1.6 litre DDiS 320 diesel engines. On the transmission front the India spec model is available with 5 speed manual and 6 speed manual gearbox options. Therefore no petrol and no automatic transmission available in the India spec S-Cross. Earlier it was reported, that the car might get a petrol engine as well. We can expect the 1.5 litre M15A petrol unit to make its way under the hood of India spec model.

The Indonesian S-Cross churns out 109 PS of peak power and 138 Nm of peak torque. On the design front the car looks identical with the India spec model. The car features HID headlamps with integrated LED daytime running lights, 7 inch touchscreen infotainment system, push start and stop button. On the safety front Suzuki offers dual airbags, ABS with EBD, cruise control etc.

Meanwhile the India bound facelifted S-Cross is due to make its global debut at the 2016 Paris Motor Show later next month. The facelifted model sports a fully revised front fascia. It features new aggressive front grille with loads of chrome garnishing, revised front bumper.
