Audi is all pumped to introduce its first-even battery-powered electric car in its entire history as the E-Tron will come with technologies that will aid customers to easily adapt to the EV lifestyle with connected options. The German automaker will specifically be offering intelligent solutions to connect owners’ homes with the all-electric vehicle.

The regular charging unit will comprise of an output of up to 11 kW while customers can opt for an even better charging system with 22 kW output as option and it will be equipped with a secondary optional charger. The charging system will enable the connection of grid through the home’s WiFi and provide intelligent charging functions in addition with home energy management system.

Audi says it wants to integrate an electric car that fits seamlessly into the intelligent connected home with premium quality standards. The Ingolstadt-based manufacturer has partnered two leading suppliers of home energy management systems such as the Hager Group and the SMA Solar Technology and is claimed to bring maximum charging convenience.

The combination of a charging system with equally suitable home energy management system will offer customers possibility of using variable electricity tariffs to charge the E-Tron vehicle. In case the home is fitted with photo-voltaic system, the charging process can be regulated to prefer electricity generated by system for charging the EV.

The final production version of the Audi E-Tron will make global debut on the 30th of August. It is claimed to offer an electric range of around 400 km in the European WLTP cycle. The crossover will likely derive power from a 95 kWh battery pack and a couple of electric motors.

While no official performance figures are on table yet, we can expect it to produce in the region of 400 horsepower. It has been rumoured two months ago that Audi is planning to launch its first electric SUV in India by the end of this decade and it could potentially be the E-Tron.
