Harley-Davidson X440

The customer delivery of the Harley-Davidson X440 will commence in October while test rides will begin across showrooms on September 1

The first motorcycle spawned out of the partnership between Hero MotoCorp and Harley-Davidson was introduced a few weeks ago. The Harley-Davidson X440 carries an aggressive starting price of Rs. 2.29 lakh and it goes all the way up to Rs. 2.69 lakh (ex-showroom). The customer deliveries of the neo-retro roadster have been confirmed to commence in October 2023.

Ahead of the deliveries, the production of the motorcycle will begin at Hero MotoCorp’s manufacturing unit in Neemrana, Rajasthan in September. The X440 appears to have had a good initial response and thus the production has been ramped up to meet the demand. In addition, the brand has said that the online reservations will come to a close on August 3.

We can expect the prices of the Harley-Davidson X440 to increase in the next purchase window and the test rides at dealerships will begin on September 1, 2023 across the country. Taking design inspiration from the HD XR1200, a cult classic in America, the X440 has been made available in a total of three variants namely Denim, Vivid and S.

Harley-Davidson X440 Exhaust Note

It derives power from a 440 cc single-cylinder air- and oil-cooled two-valve engine, which is good enough to produce a maximum power output of 27 bhp and 38 Nm of peak torque. The powertrain is linked with a six-speed transmission. Constructed on a steel trellis frame, the motorcycle uses 43 mm upside-down front forks and twin-sided shock absorbers at the rear for suspension duties.

As for braking, 320 mm front disc and 240 mm rear disc brakes are assisted by a dual-channel ABS system. The features list comprises a circular LED headlamp with LED DRL, LED tail lamp and turn signals, machined dual-tone alloy wheels, side stand engine cut-off function, single-pod TFT instrument cluster with Bluetooth connectivity, 18-inch front and 17-inch rear wheels, etc.

Hero MotoCorp is expected to launch a 440 cc motorcycle of its own in early 2024 using the same engine as the X440. It will have a different styling. The American manufacturer, on the other hand, will leverage the localised platform and engine further as the Nightster 440 name has been trademarked recently.
