Gurgaon police informs people about the importance of following traffic rules using the mythological characters

Gurgaon police department has taken an unique initiative to create awareness on road safety among people. For this initiative, Gurgaon police has joined hands with Road Safety Organization an started the campaign on the occasion of Dussehra festival. The theme of the campaign revolves around the mythological story of victory of good over evil.

Violating traffic rules have become a social evil, considering the fact that one person gets killed due to the road accident in every four minutes. The campaign kicked off from Huda City Centre and covered multiple locations like Sethi Chowk, Mahavir Chowk, Genpact Chowk and other places at Golf Course Road. The campaign ran during the day and in night as well.

In this campaign, Gurgaon police and Road Safety Organization used the people acting as mythological characters like Lakshman and Ravana. They taught people about the importance of painted stop lines and zebra crossing on roads terming them as Lakshman Rekha. Also, people were informed about the importance of wearing helments as well. The campaigners urged people to take pledge to follow the traffic rules during Ramleela.

Road accidents have been a menace for long time. India is one of the top countries with alarmingly high number of fatalities due to road accidents. Every year more than a lakh people are being affected by road accidents. While some lose their lives, some get paralyzed for the rest of their lives.

Indian government has been taking several initiatives to reduce the number of road accidents and fatalities due to that. No wonder, people have become more aware about the usage of helmets and following other safety rules. But, the problem still persists. The government is making several safety measures mandatory for the cars and two-wheelers in near future. Apart from that, fine amount for violating traffic rules has been increased significantly as well.
