GST Hike: All Jaguar And Land Rover Cars See Price Increase

Jaguar and Land Rover luxury cars have become pricier in India in compliance with the latest three-fold cess hike

As GST Council has hiked the cess of the large cars, luxury cars and SUVs, Tata Motors owned British luxury cars manufacturer Jaguar Land Rover has hiked the pricing of all its products in India. Speaking about the Jaguar, its cars have become pricier by Rs. 80,000 to Rs. 10 lakh depending on various models across the portfolio. On the other hand, every Land Rover SUV too are affected with the price hike.

Speaking about the Jaguar cars, the XE sedan has become dearer by Rs. 80,000 as it has received a 5% cess hike compared to the original GST rates introduced on 1st July 2017. The Jaguar XF is the brand’s most popular sedan in India and this is now priced between Rs. 46.46 lakh and Rs. 58.35 lakh (ex-showroom) that is significantly higher than its original GST pricing.

The Jaguar XJ petrol model was priced under the Rs. 1 crore mark before the latest cess hike. Now, it is priced at exactly Rs. 1.crore (ex-showroom). The diesel powered XJ is available at Rs. 1.07 crore (ex-showroom). Jaguar F-Pace has earned respect around the world with its luxuriousness on offer and tough sportiness. The ‘World Car of The Year’ award winner SV has seen significant price surge. The most affected Jaguar is the F-Type as it has been slapped with the maximum price hike.

Land Rover SUVs too have become dearer, as GST Council has imposed extra cess over and above the 28% GST. All these SUVs are now taxed at 50% total tax incidence that includes 22% cess. The most anticipated range Rover Velar that is likely to be launched here in November 2017, is going to be affected by the price surge as well and it could be pricier by Rs. 5 lakh – Rs. 10 lakh.

According to GST Council’s latest three-fold cess hike, the midsize cars are slapped with 43% tax incidence, while the large cars are slapped with 48% total tax incidence. The SUVs with length exceeding 4,000 mm and having ground clearance of 170 mm or above are taxed with 50% total tax incidence.
