Ford EcoSport remains most exported car from India in H1 of FY2016 marking a 4 percent increase compared to same period last fiscal
Ford EcoSport remains on top of most exported cars from India list in H1 FY2016. The muscular looking compact SUV has exported 42,354 units in April-September period this year, which marked 4% increase in export compared to H1 FY2015 when it exported 40,679 units.
Ford exports EcoSport to European markets from India, which is manufactured at the company’s plant in Chennai. In FY2015-16 also, the car remained on top of the list. In 2014-15 Ford EcoSport exported 55,178 units from India, while in 2015-2016 it exported 83,325, which helped it to become the most exported car from India.

Though the EcoSport is expected lose the top spot, as Ford has decided not to export made-in-India EcoSport in European marke5ts. Instead, it will manufacture EcoSport in its Romania plant, which will reduce the shipping cost. Production of Europe-spec Ford EcoSport in Romanian plant is scheduled to begin from 2017, which will certainly reduce export volume for the car from India.
Among most exported cars from India Nissan Micra is at second spot with 39,017 units in H1 FY2016 compared to 38,351 in same period FY2015. Hyundai Creta and Chevrolet Beat are two models, which have seen impressive rise in export. Chevrolet beat exported 30,647 units in H1 FY2016, while in same period FY2015 the car exported 3,180 units. Hyundai Creta on the other hand has exported 24,485 units in H1 FY2016 compared to 2,254 units in H1 FY2015.

Maruti Suzuki is also one of the large exporters in India. The company exports several models to around 100 overseas markets. The models Maruti Suzuki exports to overseas markets include Baleno, Alto 800, Swift, Celerio, Ertiga, Dzire etc. Baleno is certainly at the top for the company’s most exported models, which is also the first model exported to Japan from India.
