Ford EcoSport is not only pretty popular in India, but in the overseas market as well. The India made Ford EcoSport is sold in several overseas markets. In Europe, Ford sells the EcoSport, which is being manufactured in the automaker’s Chennai plant. The car has seen a 51% rise in its export volume from previous fiscal. In the 2014 – 2015 fiscal year the car exported 55178 units, while in the 2015 – 2016, Ford EcoSport is the most exported car from India with the exported numbers stands at whooping 83325 units.
The Nissan Micra was at the top spot in the last fiscal, and now in the 2015 – 2016 fiscal year the car’s export volume declined by 1%, which led it to the second spot. Maruti Suzuki Alto has seen a whopping 73% rise in its export volume with a 54656 units in last fiscal compare to previous fiscal’s 31594 units. Hyundai Grand i10 has seen a steep decline in its export volume. The car’s export volume has declined by 30%. The car exported 44672 units in last fiscal compare to previous fiscal’s 53585 units.
The Volkswagen Vento was at the third spot in the fiscal year 2014 – 2015 with 56064 units, while the car retains the third spot in the last fiscal as well with 13% increased export volume at 63157 units. Maruti Suzuki being the largest automaker in India had two models in the top ten export list in previous fiscal in form of Alto and A-Star, while in the last fiscal of 2015 – 2016 the automaker has only one, which is the Alto.
Overall the passenger car exports has grew by 5.24% in the last fiscal at 653889 units compared to 621341 units exported in the previous fiscal year. Ford EcoSport was first introduced in 2003. Presently the compact hatchback is at its second generation. The Ford EcoSport comes with range of powertrain options. It gets a 1.5 litre diesel engine, 1.0 litre Ecoboost petrol, and a 1.5 litre petrol engine. The car is offered in both manual and automatic transmission options.
