FCA India has resumed the production of the Abarth Punto in its Ranjangaon plant after the company paused manufacturing the car in mid 2016 alongside the Abarth Avventura. The manufacturing was halted due to the poor demand of these models and also to upgrade the facility for Jeep Compass’ production.
Due to the production halt of the Fiat Abarth Punto hot hatch, customers had to buy from the old stock and only one colour option was available that was the Pearl White. Now, with the company has started producing the hot hatch again both colour options will be available in the dealerships soon. However, the improvement of sales figure is unlikely. For the last six months, the car disappointingly registered average sales in single digits.

Priced at Rs. 9.90 lakh (ex-showroom, New Delhi), the Fiat Abarth Punto draws power from a 1.4-litre four-cylinder T-Jet turbocharged petrol engine that is capable of churning out 145 hp of peak power and 212 Nm of peak torque. Transmission duty is done by a 5-speed manual gearbox and the car is capable of accelerating 0-100 kmph in 8.8 seconds. Also, the hot hatch delivers 16.30 kmpl of fuel efficiency.
In terms of design, the Fiat Abarth Punto comes wearing a sporty stance thanks to the attractive paint scheme. Dimensionally, this hatchback measures 3,989 mm in length, 1,687 mm in width and 1,505 mm in height. It has a wheelbase of 2,510 mm. The Abarth body graphics, 16-inch Scorpion alloy wheels, performance-focused suspension makes it distinctive compared to the standard Punto.

Inside the cabin too, the Fiat Abarth Punto arrives with distinctive features. It sports an Abarth instrument cluster, a 5-inch touchscreen infotainment system. Seat and upholstery materials too have been designed to deliver the sporty vibe. On the safety front, it gets dual front airbags, ABS with EBD and disc brakes on all four wheels.
