Elite i20 is the best selling model for Hyundai in June as the company has sold 11,262 units with 6 percent YoY growth. Last month, the Elite i20 crossed another milestone of 5 lakh cars for the current generation model which was introduced in August, 2014 and the model received a mid-life facelift at 2018 Auto Expo, which continued the growth for Elite i20.
The sales figure includes i20 Active also and the facelift model was introduced in May, 2018. Since the launch in August, 2014 Hyundai has consistently managed to sell more than 10,000 units each month, which shows the popularity of premium hatchback in India. The sales have increased steadily over the course as the company sold 1,36,182 units in FY-18 compared to 1,26,304 units in FY-17.

In India, Hyundai offers both diesel and petrol engine options for Elite i20, but the diesel engine is punchy and gives better fuel efficiency over the petrol model which is why over 38 percent customers choose this engine. The arch rival of Elite i20 is selling more petrol model as it was available with a CVT gearbox for long time.
Earlier Elite i20 was also offered with a torque converter automatic gearbox but the new model comes with advanced CVT gearbox and it was launched in May, we can expect Elite i20 automatic sales to increases in coming months. To improve growth, Hyundai might introduce automatic gearbox with diesel engine in future.

The 1.4 L diesel engine produces 88 hp of power at 6,000 rpm and 220 Nm of torque between 1,500 – 2,750 rpm. The 1.2 L Kappa engine which is also available on Grand i10 puts out 82 hp at 6,000 rpm and 114 Nm of torque at 6,000. The petrol engine is mated to 5 speed manual and CVT gearbox while the diesel engine is mated to 6 speed manual only.
The Elite i20 gets updated grill, new bumper and tweaked headlamps along with new diamond cut alloy wheels. The major changes are at rear as Hyundai has given new tail lamp along with redesigned hatch door. Hyundai has also given long list of features for Elite i20 and it is priced at Rs. 5.41 lakh – Rs. 9.22 lakh (Ex-Showroom, Delhi).
