2023 Maruti Suzuki Tour S is claimed to be India’s most fuel-efficient entry-level sedan taxi at 32.12 km per kg in the CNG variant

Maruti Suzuki India Limited (MSIL) has today announced the launch of the new Tour S in the domestic market. Claimed to be India’s most fuel-efficient entry-level sedan taxi, it is equipped with the 1.2-litre K-series petrol engine. The exterior does not get any noticeable changes except for the addition of the ‘Tour S’ badge.

The 2023 Maruti Suzuki Tour S has been made available in three paint schemes namely Arctic White, Midnight Black, and Silky Silver. The base Tour S STD (O) 1.2L 5MT is priced at Rs. 6.51 lakh while the Tour S STD (O) CNG 1.2L 5MT costs Rs. 7.36 lakh (both prices, ex-showroom). Speaking of the new launch, Shashank Srivastava, Senior Executive Officer (Marketing and Sales), Maruti Suzuki India Limited, said,

With no dimensional changes, the Tour S measures a length of 3,995 mm, a width of 1,735 mm and an unladen height of 1,515 mm while the wheelbase length stands at 2,450 mm. As for the performance, the 1.2-litre K-series Dual Jet Dual VVT petrol engine produces a maximum power output of 89.7 PS at 6,000 rpm and 113 Nm of peak torque at 4,400 rpm in petrol mode.

In the CNG mode, the same powertrain develops 77.4 PS at 6,000 rpm and 98.5 Nm at 4,300 rpm. The petrol variant has a claimed fuel economy of 23.15 km per litre while the CNG version has it at 32.12 km per kg – 21 per cent more frugal than the old model. The fuel tank capacity stands at 37 litres while the CNG tank has a volume of 55 litres (water equivalent).

The 2023 Maruti Suzuki Tour S is built on the fifth generation Heartect platform and the safety features list comprises dual front airbags, reversing sensors, Electronic Stability Program (ESP), Anti-lock Braking System (ABS) with Electronic Brakeforce Distribution (EBD) and Brake Assist (BA), speed limiting system, and so on.

The interior comes with a tilt-adjustable steering wheel, manual AC with Pollen filter, front accessory socket, ISOFIX seat anchorages and speed-sensitive door locking.
