2018 Toyota Yaris TRD Sportivo gets several visual makeovers and interior additions compared to the regular hatchback; likely launch on February 20
For the Indonesian market, Toyota is planning to bring in the TRD Sportivo version of the Yaris hatchback and it has been spotted undisguised already. It will debut along with the 2018 Yaris on the 20th of February. While its exterior has been fully uncovered, courtesy of the leaked online brochure lately, we have got to know more about the new sporty Yaris’ features and equipment list.
The TRD Sportivo treatment is for making regular models look more aggressive with accessory add-ons and sometime performance enhancements. Late last year, the Fortuner was adorned with the Sportivo kit in India. Back to the 2018 Yaris, its exterior has become bolder due to the modifications incorporated via facelift – as Indonesia is the first market to receive the MY updates.

The new Yaris hatchback has an imposing stance which is further accentuated by the TRD Sportivo’s aggressive visual changes. On the outside, the new Yaris TRD Sportivo comes fitted with the signature TRD red touches on the headlights. It is accompanied by the distinctive front bumper with red line running at the bottom and connecting the fog lamps.
Other important exterior bits are glossy door garnish, 16-inch multi-spoke alloy wheels, red accents on the black ORVMs, LED DRLs, TRD rear integrated spoiler, horizontal LED rear combination lamp, a dynamic rear bumper, etc.
As much as the exterior, the cabin has received several changes too. The significant features are black interior theme with sporty red stitching all around, leather wrapped steering wheel, six-speaker audio unit, large seven-inch touchscreen infotainment system and Optitron meters with TFT multi-info display.

It also gets automatic climate control system, seven airbags, Vehicle Stability Control, Hill Start Assist, Anti-lock Braking System, engine start/stop button, Electronic Brake-force Distribution and Brake Assist function among others.
As for the powertrain, the 2018 Toyota Yaris TRD Sportivo uses the same 1.5-litre petrol engine which is good enough to produce a maximum power output of 107 PS and 140 Nm of peak torque. It is connected to a CVT with paddle shifters. There are two modes drivers can choose from: Eco and Sport. Having been showcased at the recently concluded 2018 Auto Expo, Toyota is gearing up to commercially launch the Yaris sedan in India in the coming months.
