2018 Maserati Quattroporte GTS derives power from a 3.8L twin-turbo V8 making 530 hp and 710 Nm torque; 0-100 kmph claimed in 4.7 seconds

Maserati India launched the new Quattroporte GTS for the domestic market last month and according to the company it is the fastest luxury sedan offered in the world. After making debut at this year’s Frankfurt Motor Show, the 2018 Quattroporte GTS has a striking visual appearance with exterior updates and is claimed to represent the quintessence of Italian sport sedans.

The first GTS goes to a business tycoon in New Delhi and it is pictured here. It is offered in India in two trims namely the GranLusso and GranSport. Maserati says both appeal to a distinct group of executive saloon seeking customers. The 2018 Quattroporte GTS GranLusso and GranSport range are offered at an average price of Rs 2.7 crore (ex-showroom, Delhi) based on the customisation options.

2018 Maserati Quattroporte India 1Both Indian and foreign customers will receive the delivery sometime early next year. The range-topping GTS model comes equipped with a 3.8-litre twin turbocharged V8 engine which is good enough to produce a maximum power output of 530 hp between 6,500 rpm and 6,800 rpm as well as 710 Nm of peak torque from 2,250 rpm to 3,500 rpm courtesy of the overboost mode.

The engine is mated to an eight-speed ZF-sourced automatic gearbox and because of its adaptive software, the shifts are programmed automatically based on the driving style. The 2018 Maserati Quattroporte GTS is claimed to accelerate from zero to 100 kmph in just 4.7 seconds before reaching a top speed of 310 kmph. It has fuel economy of 10.7 litres / 100 km with combined emission of 250 g / km.

2018 Maserati Quattroporte India 2The bold exterior is complemented by a plush cabin with an 8.4-inch Maserati Touch Control Plus (MTC+) unit positioned at the centre of the dashboard. It can be operated via the touchscreen, the rotary control in central console or voice command. It supports Apple CarPlay and Android Auto connectivity with Wi-Fi function.

The GTS can be had in either a standard 900-watt, 10-speaker Harman Kardon Premium Sound system or a 1,280-watt Bowers & Wilkins Surround Sound as option. The significant features offered in the new Quattroporte GTS are six airbags, active headrests, full LED headlamps with glare free high-beam assist, stability programme and so on.
