2018 Hyundai i20 Active Looks Sportier and Aggressive in Rendering

Hyundai i20 Active is a tough looking crossover version of the premium hatchback Elite i20. The car is sporty and interesting and it comes priced between Rs. 6.78 lakh and Rs. 9.79 lakh (ex-showroom, New Delhi). IAB has posted a rendering image of the facelifted Hyundai i20 Active and it looks pretty attractive indeed with the revised design elements.

The 2017 Hyundai Elite i20 Active facelift model gets a new larger hexagonal radiator grille with blackened horizontal slats and honeycomb mesh. The sharp laid back headlamps come with projector units and integrated LED daytime running lights. Front bumper of the crossover gets a revised look thanks to the new fog lamps with chrome surrounding and skid plate.

Moving to the side profile, this car gets sharp creases, black cladding, diamond cut alloy wheels, side skirts and scuff plate. The door handles are chrome finished and the blackened C pillar gives the car a floating roof design. Apart from that, it gets turn indicator integrated ORVMs, sporty roof rail and chrome trim at the bottom of glass area. Rear profile gets a roof spoiler and repositioned registration enclosure.

Dimensionally, the facelifted model will be identical to the current model that comes with 3,995 mm of length, 1,760 mm of width, 1,555 mm of height and 2,570 mm of wheelbase. The ground clearance is also expected to be same at 190 mm. Inside the cabin, it would become more stylish and feature packed. A larger touchscreen infotainment system with Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, improved quality seat and upholstery material will enhance the appeal further.

On the powertrain front, it is expected to get the same engines as the current model. The present Hyundai i20 Active gets a 1.2-litre Kappa petrol engine capable of producing 84 PS of peak power and there is a 1.4-litre turbodiesel engine as well that generates 90 PS of peak power. Transmission options include a 5-speed MT and a 6-speed MT.
