Updated Bajaj V15 gets pillion backrest with cushion alongside the mandatory AHO feature; mechanically remains unchanged
Bajaj has updated the V15 with new equipment and features for the 2018 model year. The 2018 Bajaj V15 comes with Auto Headlamp On (AHO) technology, while there is a pillion backrest with cushion added to the popular 150 cc bike. The bike comes priced at Rs. 64,179 (ex-showroom, New Delhi). Thanks to these subtle updates, Bajaj is expected to garner more sales figure for this bike.
Bajaj V15 comes with a stylish look that is kept intact in the new model. Despite the equipment and features added, there is no change on the mechanical front. Speaking about this bike’s design, its main USP is using metal from INS Vikrant that was India’s first aircraft carrier.
It comes with a design that is very unique and puts aside compared to the commuter models available in the domestic market. This 137 kg weighing Bajaj bike is powered by a 149.5 cc single-cylinder, air-cooled, SOHC engine that is coupled with a 5-speed transmission.
This motor is well capable of churning out 12 PS of peak power at 7,500 rpm and 12.7 Nm of peak torque at 5,500 rpm. For braking duty, it relies on 240 mm front disc brake and a 130 mm rear drum unit. Suspension duty in this bike is done by telescopic front forks and twin rear Nitrox shock absorbers.
Inspired by the success of the Bajaj V15, the homegrown bike manufacturer also launched a smaller version of the model that comes christened as V12. This commuter model is powered by a 125 cc single-cylinder, air-cooled engine coupled with 5-speed gearbox. This motor is capable of kicking out 10.7 PS of peak power at 7,500 rpm and 10.9 Nm of peak torque at 5,500 rpm.
Bajaj is aiming to increase its market share in the highly competitive Indian market. While new models from the brand will help the brand to enhance its market stake, updated versions of the existing bikes will aid in strengthening its grip in respective segments.
