The updated Maruti Suzuki Baleno and Renault Triber Turbo will arrive in India this month offering buyers two notable new options in the mass market segment. The Baleno facelift, in particular, will launch on September 5 while Renault has confirmed that the turbo petrol Triber will arrive before the end of this month to help consolidate the MPV’s portfolio and it will be based on the modified RGEP platform.
The new Maruti Suzuki Baleno will receive changes to its exterior, powertrain and equipment list as part of the update – the first since the latest model went on sale in early 2022. The premium hatchback will get a new 1.2-litre, three-cylinder Z Series petrol engine borrowed from the Swift and Dzire. It kicks out 80 bhp maximum power and 112 Nm of peak torque.
The engine will be available with five-speed manual and five-speed AMT transmissions. The Baleno facelift will also introduce a CNG-AMT combination which will make it the second model in its segment to get this powertrain configuration following the Tata Altroz. The updated hatchback will also get ventilated front seats and an ADAS suite while the cabin will receive a new dual-tone theme and revised seat upholstery to freshen things up.

The exterior revisions will include a redesigned grille, updated front and rear bumpers, new alloy wheels and a revised colour palette. The Renault Triber Turbo will bring a new engine to the seven-seat MPV’s range as it will be positioned above the existing 1.0-litre naturally aspirated three cylinder petrol motor which pumps out 71 bhp max power and 96 Nm.
The turbocharged Triber will get a 1.0-litre petrol engine that develops 99 bhp and 160 Nm in a similar fashion to the Kiger Turbo. It is, in turn, derived from the larger 1.3-litre HR13 unit found in the Duster. The company has also been speculated to bring in a turbo-CNG version which could arrive alongside the turbo petrol model.

The French manufacturer will also sell the Triber with a factory-spec CNG option with dual cylinders positioned underneath the floor and it will free up boot volume. It could be offered only with a five-speed manual gearbox. The same setup could be offered in the Kiger as well in the near future.
