The Maruti Suzuki Eeco has gone past 15 lakh cumulative sales in India in just 16 years since its launch in January 2010 and it eventually succeeded the Omni. The latest 5 lakh units came in around three and a half years making it the quickest 5 lakh sales milestone in the Eeco’s lifespan. Designed specifically for India, the van has found customers in passenger transport, cargo, small businesses, tourism and institutional applications.
The pace of sales has increased across each successive 5 lakh units milestone. The Eeco took eight years to reach its first 5 lakh sales between 2010 and 2018 while the next 5 lakh came in less than 5 years. The most recent 5 lakh units came when the domestic market was more aligned towards compact SUVs but the Eeco debunked the trend on its way to reaching 15 lakh unit sales and it is easy to see why due to its versatility and practicality.
Rural markets contributed 65 per cent of Eeco sales in FY2025-26 while 55 per cent of buyers were first-time customers and more than 51 per cent were business owners. The Eeco is available in 13 variants that cover passenger and commercial requirements. The passenger range comprises five- and six-seat versions while the line-up also includes Tour V, Ambulance, and Cargo variants.
Petrol and S-CNG powertrains are available across the range giving the van a variety of applications to appeal for. The Eeco gets Maruti Suzuki’s 1.2-litre K-Series Dual Jet Dual VVT petrol engine. The gasoline version delivers a claimed fuel efficiency of 19.71 km per litre while the S-CNG version returns 26.78 km per kg. The S-CNG option has also gained a larger share of Eeco sales as it has increased from 12 per cent in FY2019-20 to 48 per cent in FY2025-26.
Safety equipment has also expanded over the Eeco’s lifecycle. The 2026 model gets six airbags, Electronic Stability Program (ESP), ABS, EBD, reverse parking sensors, three-point ELR seatbelts for all seats, seatbelt reminders and a speed alert system as standard. Side-impact beams are also part of the package while the cabin comes with features such as a digital instrument cluster, air conditioning, HVAC controls, a dome lamp with a battery-saver function, and reclining front seats.
Maruti Suzuki has introduced the Eeco Star Edition alongside the 15 lakh sales milestone. The special edition gets 18 exclusive exterior and interior accessories while body-coloured bumpers add another visual change. The additions cover both the exterior and interior.
