The Yamaha Bolt R gets a cruiser design theme with a new 942 cc engine and the suspension is designed for comfort

Yamaha has showcased the new Bolt R cruiser at the 2019 Bangkok International Motor Show. The company introduced the Bolt in 2013 and the R model was launched in 2014. The cruiser is so popular especially in Southeast Asian countries and the company has given modern cruiser styling theme, which makes it stand out from other models.

The Bolt R measures 2291 mm length, 944 mm width, 1120 mm height and 1569 mm wheelbase. The front gets round headlamp with halogen bulb along with circular design for the indicators also. The company has given 41 mm front forks and the suspension travel is high, which makes it more comfortable to travel on bad roads.

The Bolt R gets a dual-shock suspension at the rear with a piggyback design for gas chambers. The fuel tank design is unique and the company has given 12-litre fuel tank. The handlebar is a single piece unit and foot pegs are forward set, which give a comfortable riding position for the rider as cruisers are used to travel long distances.

The seat height of Bolt R is just 690 mm and it is ideal for shorter riders also. The company is offering a single seat for the cruiser. The rear gets LED tail lamp along with a new fender. Yamaha Bolt R come with double-cradle frame and a rigid mount system, which is further tuned to improve handling.

Yamaha has given 21 mm wide drive belt and it has a carbon-fibre core also as it increases strength and rigidity. The Bolt R is powered by 942 cc air-cooled 60 degrees V-Twin with four valves per cylinder and the engine also gets pent-roof shaped combustion chamber as it is designed to deliver excellent power and low-end torque.

This engine is mated to a 5-speed gearbox and braking duties are handled by 298 mm disc brakes at front and rear. The front disc is floating mounted for better heat distortion. The Bolt R rides on 12-spoke alloy wheels with a 19-inch wheel at front with 100/90 section tyre and 16-inch wheel at rear with 150/80 section tyre.
