Volvo officially launched XC40 Momentum at Rs. 39.9 lakh and top of the line Inscription a Rs. 43.9 lakh (all price, Ex-Showroom)

Volvo officially launched its baby SUV XC40 earlier this month in R-Design trim. We reported last week that Volvo was going to expand XC40 lineup with two new variants. Now, Volvo has officially launched XC40 Momentum at Rs. 39.9 lakh and top of the line Inscription at Rs. 43.9 lakh (all price, Ex-Showroom). The R-Design variant is now priced at Rs. 42.9 lakh (introductory price was Rs. 39.9 lakh)

Volvo offers subtle exterior changes on all three variants. The R-Design model come with sporty grille, while Inscription gets premium chrome finished grille and base Momentum comes with regular grille. All three variants also come with different chassis as Momentum get dynamic, R-Design comes with sports and Four-C Chassis for Inscription.

The 18 inch alloy wheels are standard but Momentum and R-Design get 5 spoke compared to 6 spoke on Inscription and top two models also comes in diamond cut pattern for alloy wheels. The Momentum and Inscription comes with colour coordinated rear view mirror and silver finish for skid plates, while R-Design gets black finish for both.

The top end Inscription variant comes with bright décor windows, crystal gear knob, metal tread plates and Inscription name on C-Pillar. The R-Design and Inscription variant gets adaptive cruise control, park assist pilot, keyless entry leather clad and remote tag, power tailgate, heated seats, power foldable rear headrests, Harman/Kardon premium sound and wireless charging for smartphone.

The Momentum variant misses out on all these features except touch screen infotainment system and adaptive cruise control system replaced by regular cruise control. But all three variants comes with standard safety features like front and side airbags, hill start assist, hill decent assist, tyre pressure monitoring system, land keeping assist, front collision mitigation support and more.

Volvo XC40 is powered by 2.0 L turbocharged engine producing 190 PS and 400 Nm. This engine is mated to 8 speed automatic gearbox. The Swedish maker was expecting first batch of 200 units to be sold out before launch but customers were waiting for the company to officially announce price and it was sold out within two weeks.

The bookings for Momentum and Inscription variants officially opened across Volvo dealerships in India and booking amount is Rs. 2 lakh. Volvo is expected to begin deliveries by August. Volvo XC40 is going to compete against BMW X1, Audi Q3 and Mercedes Benz GLA in India.
