Volvo XC40 is offered in three variants and has received appreciable reception among customers in just few days of its market entry
Volvo officially launched XC40 earlier this month and the Swedish maker has announced that XC40 has received more than 200 bookings. Initially, XC40 was offered only with R-Design variant at introductory price of Rs. 39.9 lakh (Ex-Showroom), but now the company has hiked price to Rs. 42.9 lakh (Ex-Showroom).
Volvo introduced two new variants of XC40 in India yesterday – Momentum and Inscription priced at Rs. 39.9 lakh and Rs. 43.9 lakh respectively (both prices, Ex-Showroom). Currently, Volvo is importing XC40 to India but Swedish maker is expected to begin local assembly later this year as they are currently working on CKD for XC60 now.
The company plans to improve its sales in India and XC40 is going to play an important role in growth as entry level SUV segment is registering good growth each month. Currently, XC60 is leading the sales chart for Volvo and 25 percent of sales have come from this model for the first six months of this year and this helped Volvo to post good growth.
The XC40 is based of Volvo’s new CMA platform and it follows the same design theme of its big brothers XC90 and XC60. All three variants of XC40 come with subtle exterior changes like different grille, alloy wheels and colour combinations for mirror and roof along with different chassis and features.
Volvo loaded XC40 with lots of features like 9 inch touch screen infotainment system with Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, fully digital instrument cluster, climate control, leather seats, panoramic sunroof, 13 speaker Harman/Kardon audio system, wireless charging, powered tail gate, park pilot assist and more.
The XC40 also come with safety features like front and side airbags, hill start assist, hill decent assist, lane keeping assist, front collision mitigation support, tyre pressure monitoring system and more. Volvo is offering only one engine option for XC40 and the 2.0 L diesel engine puts out 190 PS and 400 Nm. This engine is mated to 8 speed automatic gearbox. Volvo XC40 compete against BMW X1, Mercedes Benz GLA and Audi Q3.
