Volkswagen Taigun Sound Edition and Virtus Sound Edition are priced at Rs. 16.33 lakh and Rs. 15.52 lakh respectively (ex-showroom)

Volkswagen has today announced the launch of the special edition Taigun and Virtus in the domestic market following a set of teasers released recently. Dubbed the Sound Edition, the German auto major has added new features and is based on the Topline trim. The Volkswagen Taigun Sound Edition is priced at Rs. 16.33 lakh (ex-showroom) in India.

The Volkswagen Virtus Sound Edition is slightly less expensive at Rs. 15.52 lakh (ex-showroom). It has been made available only with a 1.0L three-cylinder turbocharged petrol engine in both models and no mechanical changes have been implemented. The powertrain develops a maximum power output of 115 PS and 175 Nm of peak torque. It is linked with a six-speed torque converter automatic transmission.

The Volkswagen Taigun Sound Edition gains powered seats for the driver as well as the front passenger along with a special Sound Edition badge on the C-pillars, contrast-looking roof and Outside Rear View Mirrors, and new subwoofer and amplifier. The Virtus Sound Edition receives similar features and enhancements as well and is also available only with a 1.0L turbo petrol mill.

The Sound Edition will be available across all colour schemes and since it is based on the Topline trim, it gets a host of premium features such as LED headlamps, 17-inch alloy wheels, leather seat upholstery, auto-dimming IRVM, rain-sensing wipers, push-button engine start/stop, ventilated front seats, a digital instrument console, electric sunroof, and automatic climate control.

Buyers will also get a 25.65 cm touchscreen infotainment system with wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto compatibility, front side airbags, curtain airbags, hill start assist, My VolkswagenConnect, height adjustable driver seat, cooled glovebox, wireless charger, rear armrest with cup holders and more.

It is worth noting that VW introduced the Taigun GT Edge Trail Edition earlier this month as part of expanding the midsize SUV’s lineup. The five-seater is priced at Rs. 11.62 lakh for the base variant and it goes all the way up to Rs. 19.76 lakh for the range-topping model (ex-showroom). The Virtus costs between Rs. 11.48 lakh and Rs. 19.29 lakh (ex-showroom).
