Volkswagen has officially introduced Passat Connect in India and the base Comfortline variant is priced at Rs. 25.99 lakh while the top end Highline trim at Rs. 28.99 lakh (both prices, Ex-Showroom). The flagship sedan comes with ‘Volkswagen Connect’ telematics and vehicle assistance system, which was recently introduced in Polo, Vento and Ameo.
This system helps the customer to monitor their car easily. The customers need to download the Volkswagen Connect App and then by simply connecting the smartphone to the infotainment system through a plug and play data dongle, which gathers data from the OBD port of the car.
The application gives lots of features like trip tracking, fuel cost monitor, driving behaviour, location sharing, SOS calls and service appointments. The Volkswagen Connect App is compatible with both Android and iOS platforms. Apart from this new connect app, the company hasn’t made any changes to the Passat.
The new Passat is based on modular MQB platform and the executive sedan share more than 50 per cent of components with new generation Superb. Volkswagen has gives lots of advanced safety features like lane-departure warning, adaptive cruise control, forward collision warning with autonomous emergency braking and blind spot monitor.
The interior gets an all-new design theme and the sedan is packed with lots of features like 360-degree view camera with parking sensors, three-zone climate control, electric adjustable front seats with heated and massage functions, touchscreen infotainment with Android Auto and Apple Carplay and more.
The Passat is powered by 2.0 L diesel engine producing 177 PS of power between 3,600 rpm and 4,000 rpm and 350 Nm of torque between 1,500 rpm and 3,500 rpm. This engine is mated to 6 speed DSG automatic transmission and the claimed fuel efficiency is 17.42 kmpl. The company has also given ‘Think Blue Trainer’ to improve efficiency.
