Updated Toyota Innova Crysta will be introduced sometime next year and it could gain a CNG variant
Toyota hosted the global debut of the new generation Innova Hycross on November 21 in Indonesia and four days later, the premium MPV was introduced in India. The hybridised MPV will be sold in seven- and eight-seater configurations in the domestic market and it will have its prices announced in the coming weeks.
The deliveries of the Toyota Innova Hycross will commence by the middle of January 2023. The Japanese auto major has made it clear that the Innova Crysta will be back on sale next year as well much to the rejoice of many enthusiasts and it will also be retailed with a diesel powertrain. The bookings for the diesel-powered Innova Crysta were stopped a while ago.
The second-generation Innova Crysta has been in the business for more than six and a half years with resounding success but it is currently removed from the brand’s official website. According to recent reports that emerged on the internet, Toyota will re-introduce the Innova Crysta with updates some time in 2023.
Toyota paused the reservations for the Innova Crysta diesel in August 2022 due to semiconductor and supply chain issues and it was available for a brief period only with the 2.7-litre petrol engine. Toyota is said to be evaluating a CNG variant of the revised Innova Crysta and it could help in appealing to a wide range of customers, mainly the fleet aggregators.
Only a few weeks ago, Toyota introduced the CNG version of the Glanza and it will be followed by the Urban Cruiser Hyryder CNG this month. The 1.5-litre four-cylinder mild-hybrid petrol engine sourced from Maruti Suzuki will be utilised. The same powertrain can also be seen in the Ertiga CNG and XL6 CNG.
Maruti Suzuki will also introduce the Grand Vitara CNG soon. Bringing back the Innova Crysta will help Toyota to lure in a wide set of customers across the different price ranges. We do expect the MPV to gain minor exterior updates and interior revisions while the equipment list could get new additions as well.
