The premium hatchback is going to be based on the Alpha platform and it will carry forward most of the design elements from the concept model

Tata Motors is currently working on a new premium hatchback and it is based on the 45X concept model introduced at 2018 Auto Expo. The 45X is going to be based on the Alpha platform and the latest spy shot gives us more details about the production model.

The design is based on the new Impact Design 2.0 philosophy. Like the concept version, the roof line goes up and then comes down towards the rear. The test mule also gets the same kink in the boot and it gives a flow to the design. The 45X gets the wrap around LED tail lamps, which extend towards the boot and side.

The OVRMs appear to be slightly bigger than the one on Nexon and Tiago. Tata Motors has given rear door handles on the C-pillar rather than on the conventional position. The premium hatchback also comes with five spoke 15-inch alloy wheels and the top end models might get a diamond cut pattern to make it more premium.

The interior gets a new design theme and the infotainment system is placed on the top of the dashboard with other controls placed below it. The company has given three spoke multi-function steering wheel similar to what we have seen in other Tata products and the instrument cluster is analogue with a MID screen in the middle.

The dashboard is finished in dual tone colour with black colour on top. The 45X will also come with lots of features like touchscreen infotainment system with Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, climate control, leather seats, push-button start, keyless entry, reverse camera with parking sensors, automatic headlamp and more.

We can expect the top-end model to come with 6 airbags, ABS, EBD and Brake Assist. The engine options for the premium hatchback are not yet revealed, but we can expect the 1.2 L Revotron petrol and 1.5 L Revotorq diesel from Nexon to be part of the package with the option of both manual and automatic transmissions. Tata Motors will launch 45X next year in India.
